About the documentary
Citizen Change reveals the previously untold history of how a dedicated group of LGBT activists in the neighboring East Bay cities of Berkeley and Oakland took the first steps towards today’s marriage equality advancements. The film recalls the emerging Gay and Lesbian rights movement of the 1970s and 1980s and, in the words of the participants, details the personal and political obstacles they overcame to make history.
Citizen Change is the first feature produced by Partners Productions and directed by James Chambers. The film had its world premiere at Frameline 36 and has been submitted for consideration by other international LGBT film festivals.
